What is Microendoscopic Discectomy?
Microendoscopic Discectomy is a surgery during which an endoscope (a very thin fiber-optic camera) is used to see internal portions of the body. A small incision is made to insert the endoscope. This camera has a small channel for tools to pass through to perform the surgery and allows the surgeon to see what they are doing. This procedure is done to treat back pain caused by disc herniations, spinal arthritis and stenosis.
